Science Geek Crocheting

I found this site (http://www.giantmicrobes.com/) when I was looking for "amigurumi pattern octopus" on Google. I came upon a site where a person had their "want list" posted (I think it was on Flickr) which had an amigurumi shushi picture as well as the e. bola plush from GIANTmicrobes website and other stuff. I decided that I desperately wanted/ could NOT live without a plush Erythrocyte (a red blood cell, for those of you not in the medical field). I printed off the picture and thought, "That would be cute to do as an amigurumi... if I could figure out how to do that." Thus, the photo below, my first Erythrocyte Amigurumi. Yes, it IS a bi-concave disk (that means that it has to divots on each side of the cell so that it has a little depression in it to hold oxygen and carbon dioxide molecules) for anatomists and blood bank workers. The googly eyes just look so cute. I will never be anemic now as I have a nice, big red blood cell!
